Accordion Pleat

The highlight of today's outfit is of course the accordion pleat dress bought during a clearance sale. I must say the colour is a little too pop-out pink for me. And not to mention, I always have this insecurity with the colour pink. It makes me feel so feminine and that freaks me out because I am not! I used to be very boyish when I was a teenager and long story short, adoring pink is a struggle at some point. My current obssession is shoes with pointy toes. They just make the whole outfit a little more retro than usual. Also, I love the fact the New Look logo inside is the old one, hence I assume they are considered vintage. Brownie points for a very cheap vintage find :) Hope you all had a great pleated day today!

Blurry Blue

life is blurry, my friend
even more, for you
whose hope seems not
to reach you

but fear not, my friend
the peace
at the end of the journey
will worth so much more
than the suffering
that you have to endure

Little Sailor

So I have been busy (again & again) with the Polyvore thingy. I've been obsessed with the website that every day all I did was creating more and more outfit and entering more and more contest. And yesterday morning I received a message from the site and guess what, I won 6th place out of 692 entries in a contest! *clap, clap, clap*  This victory means the wholeeeee world to me because the last time I won a contest was when I was 7, playing musical chair * sigh* (I'm useless at anything, I know).  For today's outfit I chose nautical colours because the navy and bold red remind me of the courage of a sailor, which to me, is always inspiring and admirable. And like a skillful sailor, I'll try my best at this chosen sea.

Long Distance Relationship and Valentine's Day :)

I've been busy this few days after discovering Polyvore, a magical site for someone like me who loves creating outfits in my mind but in reality lack the money to buy them all. So for Valentine's Day, I've made these pair up outfits for Mark & I's virtual imagine-in-the-head date. We're both are 6734.5 miles apart right now and to those who are also in the same long-distance relationship, remember, if you're good at being close, you can also be good at being apart.

Our daytime date will be inspired by our favorite movie, 500 days of Summer.
Hope you like them as much as I do! Have a lovely Valentine's Day! :) 500 days of summer

I'll Pastel My Way Out

Today I had an interview. I started off scared. I'm a little shy too. It's just me and the interviewer lady in the room. What's interesting was the more we talk, the more we realized that we have so many things in common. We shared our personal stories to the point that she laughed and apologized for not being professional. Overall, the interview ended dragging more time than it was planned to be with her telling me "I really enjoyed talking to you". So, to link the story to the outfit - I choose a formal button-up attitude because I like working on anything I want. The pastels and polka dots, because it reflects my soft spot of being a little shy but a deep desire to be a real woman like the one interviewing me -brave, courageous, full of laughter and eyes bright with life.

A Belted Waist Isn't Easy

The outfit reminds me of a traditional Malay idiom which translated as "to belt your waist". It means to starve as much as one could because there's not much food or money left to buy something to eat. Well I am currently in those state of belting my waist. The allowance will be in in a few weeks and I do not have much left. But I think contented is what I'd add to my state. I have so much around me that is always keeping my chin up - rain on my windowpane, a warm shower, lovely text messages, friends I can count on, constant laughter in the house. In days like this, a belted waist isn't as horrible as I used to think. It's just a state where one experience the happiness in which money can't buy. But of course, when my money is in I will have to disagree with that hehe

Green Green Grass of Not A Home

Inspiration: Peggy Olsen from Madmen Series.

This is my first ever outfit post on a blog. It is the first of February and by June, I'd be going home to Malaysia. *big sigh* Last night, it snowed for the first time in Plymouth. I managed to dance under the scattered shower of white flakes for a few seconds before it stopped and its cold and windy again until the next day. It is now almost sunset and it is still freezing outside. I'm a little nostalgic this few weeks for remembering what little time I have to enjoy the lovely seasons of Britain. For sure, life must go on and isn't it strange that when time is lacking, we try so hard to enjoy every little thing. It is painful to not want to let go of time, but along the way, we come to realize that the pain breeds the blessing of enjoying the ideal life - the life of the present, not looking back at the past nor anticipating the future.
